GMR Sports on Tuesday announced that it has inked a ten-year strategic partnership with Rugby India, the national governing body for rugby, to launch the Rugby Premier League (RPL). Set to debut in 2025, the RPL will be one of the first franchise-based rugby leagues, featuring six city-based teams and showcasing talent from top rugby nations globally.
GMR Sports co-owns Delhi Capitals in IPL and is also invested in Kho Kho and Kabaddi.
The company said that this partnership signifies a strategic step forward for GMR Sports as it extends its legacy into the realm of Rugby 7s, one of the fastest-growing sports in the world.

The company said that the unveiling of city-based franchises, ownership details, and international coaches is scheduled for five weeks from now.
