US-based TikTok users are seeing a notification on the app that said its services will be temporarily unavailable under a new national security law that takes effect Sunday.
“We regret that a US law banning TikTok will take effect on January 19 and force us to make our services temporarily unavailable,” according to the notification. “We’re working to restore our service in the US as soon as possible, and we appreciate your support. Please stay tuned.”
Users from New York to San Francisco who said they saw the notification are currently still able to watch videos on the app.
