Transition to net zero GHG emissions has been the big talking point of late, with consequences of negligence rising in magnitude. But the global GHG emissions continue to be on the rise, albeit at a slower pace since 2021. India’s share in global GHG emissions is also on the rise and it continues to be the third-largest contributor in absolute terms in 2022 and 2023. And looking within India, the coal-heavy power segment stands to be the leading emitter of GHG in 2023 followed by agriculture.
