Vidyadhan, a philanthropic initiative started by Infosys Founder Shibulal’s family, is targeting to provide one lakh scholarships by 2030.
Run by the Shiblal Family Philanthropic Initiative (SFPI), the programme so far supported over 14,000 students through 50,000 scholarships in 20 States and Union Territories.
“We follow a rigorous filtering process to select the deserving candidates for the scholarships. The process includes a written test and house visits,” a senior functionary of the organisation has said.
At a function held here on Wednesday to mark the 25th anniversary of the programme, S D Shibulal and Kumari Shibulal interacted with the old and new candidates that were selected for the programme.
“Every child deserves a chance to dream and achieve. Vidyadhan has been a catalyst for making those dreams a reality,” Kumari, Co-Founder of SFPI, said.
Shibulal said the organisation aimed to break the cycle of poverty and create a generation of confident, self-reliant individuals. “We would like to scale the programme to provide one lakh scholarships by 2030,” he said.
